Pima cotton doesn't deteriorate over time — it gets better. To keep it that way, all it takes is a few simple steps. Here's how to preserve the remarkable softness of your pieces.

Wash

Turn your garment inside out and wash at 30 °C or below on a gentle cycle. Use a mild liquid detergent — powder can roughen the delicate fibres over time.

Dry

Lay flat on a clean towel and reshape gently. Avoid the tumble dryer — heat can cause Pima cotton to shrink and compromise the silky hand feel that makes it so distinctive.

Iron

If needed, iron on a low setting while slightly damp. Pima cotton has a natural tendency to smooth itself whilst being worn — often, the iron can stay in the drawer.

Store

Fold your Pima pieces and place them in a drawer rather than hanging. This preserves the garment's shape and prevents stretching at the shoulders.

Does Pima cotton shrink?

The Peruvian Pima cotton we use is pre-washed and dimensionally stable. Washed in cold water and dried flat, it holds its shape beautifully. Shrinkage occurs almost exclusively through excessive heat — in the wash or the dryer.

Can I tumble dry Pima cotton?

We recommend air drying. The heat of a tumble dryer strains the fine, long-staple fibres and can diminish the characteristic softness of Pima cotton over time. Laying flat is the gentlest way to dry.

Does Pima cotton get softer over time?

Yes — and this is one of its most beautiful qualities. Peruvian Pima cotton grows more supple with every wash, without losing its structure. The fabric evolves with you.
